10 October - Low Risk of Spill declared in the Murray and Campaspe systems
The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2025/26 risk of spill information for the Murray and Campaspe systems.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said the risk of spill in the Murray and Campaspe systems had fallen below the 10 per cent threshold needed to make a low risk of spill declaration.
“Inflows to the storages remained low in September,” Dr Bailey said. “When combined with the water released to meet downstream demand, the risk of spill at Lake Hume and Lake Eppalock has reduced to less than 10 per cent.
“This declaration releases the water held in spillable accounts for use or trade by customers in the Murray and Campaspe systems.”
Dr Bailey said the risk of spill assessment did not describe the chances of flooding this season.
“The risk of spill is a water accounting assessment. It does not refer to flood risks downstream of the storages.”

The first formal risk of spill assessment for the 2026/27 season will be announced on Wednesday 1 July 2026.

10 September - Risk of Spill update for Murray and Campaspe systems
The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2025/26 risk of spill information for the Murray and Campaspe systems.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said the risk of spill in the Murray and Campaspe systems had fallen but remained above the 10 per cent threshold needed to make a low risk of spill declaration.
“With below average inflows in Lake Hume and Lake Eppalock during August, the risk of spill has reduced in both the Murray and Campaspe systems,” Dr Bailey said.
“The risk of spill at Lake Hume in the Murray system is now about 25 per cent. The risk of spill from Lake Eppalock in the Campaspe system has decreased to 17 per cent.”

The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2025/26 risk of spill information for each of the Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe systems.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said the risk of spill in the Goulburn system had fallen below the 10 per cent threshold needed to make a low risk of spill declaration.
“While recent rainfall in the Goulburn catchment has increased streamflows, the current and forecast conditions and the available storage capacity has reduced the risk of spill at Lake Eildon this season,” Dr Bailey said.
“The risk of spill at Lake Hume in the Murray system is about 40 per cent. The risk of spill from Lake Eppalock in the Campaspe system has decreased to 30 per cent.”

The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2025/26 risk of spill information for each of the Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe systems.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said there was a small change in the risk of spill for the Murray system, but the risk in the Goulburn and Campaspe systems remain unchanged since the 1 July 2025, assessment.
“Based on updated Murray system account information, the risk of spill at Lake Hume is 43 per cent,” Dr Bailey said.
“The risk of spill from Lake Eildon in the Goulburn system remains at 25 per cent. The risk of spill from Lake Eppalock in the Campaspe system is also unchanged at 40 per cent.”
