Further Information

A 1% increase to the seasonal allocation in the Goulburn system was the only improvement announced by Goulburn-Murray Water today. The seasonal allocations in all other systems remained unchanged.

The recent dry conditions have produced very little inflow to water systems. The increased demand for irrigation during the current hot weather has also lowered system efficiencies and made fewer savings available for allocation.

The seasonal allocation in the Goulburn system has increased by 1% to be 55% of high-reliability water shares following small improvements resulting from inflows in the upper catchment and savings in the channel distribution system.

Resource improvements in other systems were insufficient to increase allocations. The Murray system seasonal allocation is 43% of high-reliability water shares, and the Broken system allocation is 70% of high-reliability water shares. The seasonal allocation in the Campaspe system is 18% of high-reliability water shares. The Loddon system seasonal allocation is 5% of high-reliability water shares.

Bullarook Creek system customers can access water for qualified rights.

Goulburn-Murray Water will announce the final 2007/08 seasonal allocations on Tuesday 1 April 2008. Customers in the Murray, Broken, Goulburn, Campaspe, Loddon and Bullarook Creek regulated systems are reminded that water which is unused from this season's allocations is automatically carried over to the 2008/09 season. Carryover should be considered as an option for customers to meet their water needs next season.
