Further Information
Increases of 2% for the Goulburn system and 1% for the Broken system were the only improvements as Goulburn-Murray Water today announced the final 2007/08 seasonal allocations. The seasonal allocations in all other systems remained unchanged.
The inflows to water systems have been severely limited by the dry conditions affecting northern Victoria. Savings created by efficient system operations and isolated showers allowed the Goulburn system to increase 2% to reach 57% of high-reliability water shares, and the Broken system to improve 1% to finish at 71% of high-reliability water shares.
Operating efficiencies and very low inflows were not enough to improve the allocations in the other water systems. The Murray system seasonal allocation is 43% of high-reliability water shares, and the seasonal allocation in the Campaspe system is 18% of high-reliability water shares. The Loddon system seasonal allocation is 5% of high-reliability water shares.
Bullarook Creek system customers can access water for qualified rights.
As advised since the mid-December 2007 update, this is the final allocation announcement for the 2007/08 season. The water resources improvements that are received from now until the end of June 2008 will be used for system operations and allocations during the 2008/09 season.
Goulburn-Murray Water will issue an updated outlook for the 2008/09 season on 15 May 2008.
