Further Information
Increased seasonal allocations in the Murray and Goulburn systems were announced today by Goulburn‑Murray Water (G-MW), the Resource Manager for the northern Victorian water systems. The seasonal allocation in the Murray system was increased by 5% to 33% of high-reliability water shares (HRWS). The Goulburn system seasonal allocation also increased by 5% to 28% HRWS. No allocations were possible in the other northern Victorian water systems.
"The allocation improvements announced today have come from inflows arising from the mid‑December rainfall event, reduced system losses due to favourable weather conditions and ongoing water conservation activities," said Graeme Hannan, Resource Manager for the Murray and Goulburn systems.
"Demand for water in all systems is low due to low water availability and has been further suppressed by several rain events and low temperatures in recent weeks. Future allocation improvements this season depend on inflows and reduced operating water requirements," said Mr Hannan.
