Further Information
The Resource Manager for northern Victorian regulated water systems today announced that seasonal allocations were unchanged.
“Despite higher inflows expected from the Darling River, Victoria’s share of resources will not increase enough to enable low-reliability water share (LWRS) allocations to be made in the Murray system,” said Resource Manager Dr Mark Bailey. “There are still large volumes required before allocations to LRWS can be announced in the Murray, Goulburn and Loddon systems and it remains unlikely that resources will improve enough to enable LRWS allocations to be made this season in these three systems.”
Customers participating in the water trading market are reminded that the Murray-Darling Basin Authority has relaxed the rule controlling allocation trade from upstream of the Barmah Choke to downstream users. The ability to trade across the Barmah Choke will be regularly reviewed by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and the relaxation may be lifted at any time during the season.
The next allocation announcement will be issued on Thursday 15 March 2012.
