Further Information

The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today announced increased seasonal determinations in the Murray, Goulburn and Loddon systems.

The Murray system increases by 5 per cent to 42 per cent of high-reliability water shares (HRWS).

The Goulburn system increases by 5 per cent to 50 per cent HRWS and the Loddon system increases from 39 per cent HRWS to 41 per cent HRWS.

Resource Manager Mark Bailey said the Broken and Bullarook systems remained unchanged on zero per cent HRWS and the Campaspe system remained unchanged on 50 per cent HRWS.

“Rainfall over the last two weeks has provided inflow into the major storages in the Murray and Goulburn systems, but inflows to the Loddon and Campaspe storages remain very low,” Dr Bailey said. “The catchments in the east are now responding to rain, but more rain is needed before large inflows occur.

“Today’s increases come from conditions being slightly better than assumed in our previous assessment. The early season reserve for the 2016/17 season is fully established in the Goulburn system now that the seasonal determination has reached 50 per cent.”
