The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2024/25 seasonal determinations.
Seasonal determinations in the Murray, Goulburn and Loddon systems are unchanged at 100 per cent of high-reliability water shares (HRWS).
The Bullarook system remains at 12 per cent HRWS.
In the Broken system, seasonal determinations remain at 100 per cent HRWS and 100 per cent of low‑reliability water shares (LRWS).
The Campaspe system seasonal determination is unchanged at 100 per cent HRWS and 48 per cent LRWS.
Resource Manager Mark Bailey said there was no additional water available to increase seasonal determinations.
“Warm and dry conditions since the previous assessment have meant evaporation and operating losses are close to our estimates,” Dr Bailey said.
“Coupled with very low flows into the storages, there were no resource improvements available for the Campaspe or Bullarook systems.
“The Murray and Goulburn systems each need resource improvements of more than 750 gigalitres before allocations to LRWS can commence. Based on current weather and flow conditions, it is unlikely that either system will receive LRWS allocations this season.”

Trading Opportunities
Allocation trade from New South Wales to Victoria is limited to the lesser of a net annual volume of 200 GL or a volume that keeps the risk of spill in Victoria’s share of both Hume and Dartmouth reservoirs below 50 per cent. The current risk of spill in the Murray system allows 200 GL of net trade from New South Wales to Victoria.
