Seasonal Allocations
The Murray system seasonal allocation is 21% of high-reliability water shares (HRWS). The seasonal allocation in the Goulburn and Loddon systems is 48% HRWS. The Broken system seasonal allocation is 18% HRWS and Bullarook system customers receive an allocation of 39% HRWS.
Campaspe system customers have a seasonal allocation of 100% HRWS and 47% of low-reliability water shares.
"This is the first time since 2002/03 that all systems have received an allocation at the opening announcement," said Dr Mark Bailey, acting Resource Manager. "The reserves established by above‑average rainfall and inflows last season have directly contributed to the allocations announced today."
"The timing and regularity of the rainfall also meant that many entitlement holders did not use much of their allocation last year," said Dr Bailey. "The volume of allocation carried over this year is the highest since carryover was introduced as an emergency drought response measure in 2006/07. All major water storages are holding much greater volumes than in recent seasons, but a large proportion of the volume is private carryover. The Murray, Goulburn and Campaspe systems have had the equivalent of approximately 100% of high-reliability water shares carried over to the 2011/12 season."
"Customers in the Broken, Loddon and Bullarook systems have carried over close to the maximum volume of their 2010/11 allocation that is possible under the carryover rules that apply in those systems," added Dr Bailey.
