Further Information
Goulburn-Murray Water (G-MW), Resource Manager for northern Victorian water systems, today announced that allocations were unchanged.
"The volume needed to allocate low-reliability water shares in the Murray, Goulburn and Loddon systems has not been significantly reduced by the continuing rainfall across northern Victoria," said G-MW's Acting Resource Manager, Mark Bailey. "Dartmouth Reservoir and Lake Eildon have both increased in volume over the last month, but the rainfall has suppressed irrigation demand such that the existing commitments have changed little. It is unlikely that low-reliability water shares will be allocated in these three systems this season."
Customers participating in the water trading market are reminded that the Murray-Darling Basin Authority has relaxed the rule controlling allocation trade from upstream of the Barmah Choke to downstream users. The ability to trade across the Barmah Choke will be regularly reviewed by the Murray-Darling Basin Authority and the relaxation may be lifted at any time during the season.
The next allocation announcement will be issued on Tuesday 15 March 2011.
