Goulburn and Loddon low-reliability water share seasonal determinations increase to 100 per cent

Goulburn and Loddon low-reliability water share seasonal determinations increase to 100 per cent

The Resource Manager for northern Victoria today updated the 2022/23 seasonal determinations.

The Goulburn and Loddon systems increase from 100 per cent of high-reliability water shares (HRWS) and 77 per cent of low-reliability water shares (LRWS) to 100 per cent HWRS and 100 per cent LRWS.

The seasonal determinations in the Murray, Broken, Campaspe and Bullarook systems all remain at the maximum availability of 100 per cent HRWS and 100 per cent LRWS.

Resource Manager Mark Bailey confirmed that all systems had reached the maximum seasonal determination for 2022/23.

“This is the first time all northern Victorian systems have received a 100 per cent seasonal determination for both high-reliability and low-reliability water shares since water entitlements were unbundled in 2007,” Dr Bailey said.

“Releases to manage the water level in Lake Eildon continued during November and into December,” Dr Bailey added. “This will cause about 110 gigalitres to be deducted from Goulburn Spillable water accounts, equivalent to 100 per cent of the total volume.

Dr Bailey noted this is final seasonal determination announcement for 2022/23. “As all systems have the maximum seasonal determination, no further resource assessments for 2022/23 are required.”

“Any resource improvements in the coming months will contribute to reserves for 2023/24.”

“Risk of spill announcements will continue to provide updates on trade opportunities from New South Wales to Victoria,” Dr Bailey added.

The seasonal determinations for northern Victorian water systems on Thursday, December 15 are:
Water System High-Reliability Water Share Low-Reliability Water Share
Murray 100% 100%
Broken 100% 100%
Goulburn 100% 100%
Campaspe 100% 100%
Loddon 100% 100%
Bullarook 100% 100%
